GP Errors after Windows 10 Upgrade

Posted on by

Has anyone seen unexplained errors after Win10 Upgrade?  Workstations were running under Win7 w/ no problem.  IT rolled out Win10 update to the workstations over the weekend and now the workstations are losing connection it seems after 60-100 minutes since the Win10 upgrade.  They will get the attached errors in GP.  We have tried to reinstall GP on the workstation.  The lone workstation that didn't get updated (still on Win7) is working fine.

It seems to be SQL and/or permission related but haven't had any luck resolving it.  Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Cindy

This ended up being related to a drive mapping policy that was using replace instead of update.  The replace was dropping the connection long enough to give the errors.  After IT changed the policy to use update instead of replace, the users were able to stay connected without any issue.

We were also able to correct it by changing the Launch file to use fully qualified UNC mapping instead of the drive mapping to S:

In our case, I had IT apply all the lastest W10 updates. That happened last night and this morning all is now fine with GP.

Are all of the updates installed for Windows 10?

Is the computer going to sleep at all during the day? We found out the default W10 power settings were causing similar errors.

Is the user set up as a local administrator on the PC?

These are the first three things that come to mind.

    Thanks.

I would be happy to share what I have found so far.  I think you are right on your guess but I've not had any luck yet with solving it.  I'll email you with my contact information.  Good luck!

RE: GP Errors after Windows 10 Upgrade

I just ran into a problem related to this today. They are running GP 2015. IT came along and did in place upgrades from W7 to W10. Now when they launch GP, GP crashes right after logging in. Doing a fresh install did not help. I am waiting for IT to get me back on their computer so I can review the event viewer and dig into this issue. My guess it that is a permission or .Net FW issue. Running as admin did not help.
