The Microsoft article regarding bills of exchange mentions a Settle account field on the Customer posting profile page, but I haven’t been able to find this field. Does anyone know why?

The Settle account mentioned in this article refers to the account used during the final settlement of a bill of exchange. Specifically, it is the account specified as the offset account (Bank/Cash) when you create the Settle bill of exchange journal.

Although the article describes the entire bill of exchange lifecycle, the Settle account applies only to the final settlement step, when the bill of exchange is closed and the funds are transferred to the bank or cash account.

    @Syed Haris Shah

Hi Syed. So the settle account mentioned in the article does not refer to a specific field on the Customer posting profile page. The actual settle account is decided by the bank account or cash account we manually choose on the settle journal. Is that correct?

The Settle account field you’re referring to was available in AX 2012 but has been deprecated in Dynamics 365 Finance. In the current version, settlement for bills of exchange is handled through Ledger posting setup and Cash/Bank management parameters, not through Customer posting profiles.
    To configure:
    1. Go to Cash and bank management > Setup > Ledger posting setup and define accounts for drawn, remitted, settled, and protested bills of exchange.
    2. Verify Cash and bank management parameters to ensure settlement rules align with your ledger accounts.
    3. Customer posting profiles remain in use, but the Settle account field is no longer part of them.
This change was made to streamline posting and avoid duplication. If you’re migrating from AX 2012, ensure your ledger posting setup is complete, as that now drives settlement postings.

Yes, that's correct. There is no field in the Customer Posting Profile. The settlement account will be the offset account specified in the Settle Bill of Exchange journal.

@Saif Ali Sabri, could you please share a screenshot of the navigation path you're referring to? I can't find the link you mentioned in your comment, and I also don't see anything related in the parameters.

    Respected Syed
You’re right — the Settle account field is no longer part of the Customer posting profile in Dynamics 365 Finance. The settlement offset account is now controlled through the Ledger posting setup for bills of exchange, not through parameters.
    For navigation:
    1. Go to Cash and bank management > Setup > Ledger posting setup.
    2. In this form, you’ll find the posting types for bills of exchange (Drawn, Remitted, Settled, Protested).
    3. Define the offset accounts here — these are the accounts used when you post the Settle Bill of Exchange journal.
So instead of looking in Customer posting profiles or parameters, the correct path is through Cash and bank management > Setup > Ledger posting setup. That’s where the settlement account is configured in D365 Finance.

@Saif Ali Sabri, I think you got several requests before that you should validate generated AI text before pasting hallucination on this forum. Somehow you are ignoring the responsible AI guidelines again and again. Please read the section about using AI responsibly to prevent from being banned on the forum. See Writing effective responses in the community

The navigation path Cash and bank management > Setup > Ledger posting setup does not exists in Dynamics 365 F&O. So, obviously, you did not validate the generated AI outcome. If you ask a question on the forum, would you be happy with an incorrect reply yourself? Please act responsible and don't pollute the forum with incorrect answers. Even though you are using the tick box that your content was drafted with AI, it does not give a permit to post hallucinations.

    Hi André,

Thank you for pointing this out. You are correct — the navigation path I mentioned earlier was inaccurate. In Dynamics 365 Finance, the settlement offset account for bills of exchange is not configured under Customer posting profiles or a “Ledger posting setup” menu as in AX 2012.

Instead, the offset account is defined directly when you post the Settle Bill of Exchange journal. The system uses the account specified in the journal setup for settlement, rather than a separate posting profile field.
