    Hi Catalina,

You can read some documentation to get a basic idea about the cost templates. Set up cost templates | Microsoft Learn

Can you elaborate on the required process and calculations from your company?

    Hi Andre,

Right know I'm just investigating about the module. so i don't have a process in mind at the moment.

but what i don't understand is the difference between completion based on and cost to complete method.  aren't this two use for the same purpose but have different selections?

    Hi Catalina,

These fields are not the same, but are related. Completion based on tells what unit to use for the completion calculation: e.g. amounts or quantity.

Let's take an example of a forecast:

    Hours: 100

    Hour rate: 50

    Cost total = 5000.

If you now use a resource with an hourly rate of 60, there would be a difference in the percentage of completion if the calculation will be done on quantities or the amount. Assume 10 hours were posted.

    10 hours would be 10%

cost posted of 600 would be 12%

Here is some more documentation about the cost to complete options: Cost to complete methods | Microsoft Learn
