Transfer ownership of surveys and projects

We have a staff member leaving who is the owner of multiple surveys and projects.

How can we transfer these out of their name?

I have the same question (0)

I haven't found a way to do it and move the existing response data to the new owner.  Even going through CV in Dynamics and assigning the project and survey to a new owner wouldn't do the trick.

Though, if you're looking to move the surveys and projects over, that's doable and easy.  Let me know if that's the only goal.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for your response! So does that mean the data collected to date gets deleted when the account gets closed?

That seems mind-blowing. We're a fairly large NFP organisation so people are coming and going on a regular basis. We rely on being able to report on outcomes data to our funders over a period of years.

With that in mind, the goal is to be able to keep surveys open and collecting consistent data even when the project/survey owner leaves.

I agree, it's mind-blowing that ownership of surveys in CV hasn't been addressed in the two years it's been around.  Again, there might be a way to accomplish this, though I have yet to come across it.  Might be a good idea to submit a support request to Microsoft to see if they can assist.

Another idea going forward since you have people coming and going would be to establish a default user to administer/create the surveys and then grant/remove access to end-users as needed.  It doesn't need to be an actual person, rather just a licensed user.

If Microsoft can't assist and no other option seems ideal, try keeping the surveys and data under the currently licensed user.  Strip the contact information from the current user in the admin settings, change the password, and change the email address from "leavinguser@your-org" to "surveys@your-org" or something else.  That way the user license technically stays active keeping all of your survey data even though the leaving user is no longer associated with that license anymore.

    Just a thought.

    Best,

    Chris

Thanks Chris - that's all super helpful. I think we'll have to go with one of those workarounds for now and keep wishing for a better option in future.
