CRM online with email router and exchange 2010

When you download the on prm version of the email router you see exchange 2010 2007 and 2003 as options for the incoming connector. But when you download the online version you see exchange exchange online and smtp. What's up with that? We can not seem to get email router to talk to our exchange 2010.
