How to update Unit Cost by creating Assembly Order ?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

Does anyone know how to update Unit Cost by creating Assembly Order?

I created some Assembly Orders, but the Unit Cost is still 0. Does the Assembly BOM affect the Unit Cost update?

Costing Method: FIFO
Replenishment System: Assembly

Manufacturing Policy: Make-to-Stock

Assembly Policy: Assemble-to-Order

Assembly Location:Assembly

Thanks in Advance.

Here is an Assembly Order. All items have Unit Cost and Cost Amount on the Lines.

But the Unit Cost and Cost Amount in the Yellow fields are 0.

Does anyone know why the cost is not added up?

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for you response. As I mentioned in my previous question: Unit Cost is not Updated.

We have one item which has 0 amount in Unit Cost field. This item has Assembly BOM.  When create and post an assembly order, the unit cost is not updated.

But for other items, their assembly orders have unit cost with the correct value. I can also use "Cal. Standard Cost" function in these items. And we have Work Centers/ Routings setup.

I would appreciate if you could answer my previous question.

    Thank you!

    Hi Allen,

The most basic explanation is as follows:

The Bill of Materials facilitates capturing the Material Cost of a produced Item.

The Work Centers/Routings facilitate capturing the labor costs.

Once you have these setup then you can use the Calculate Standard Cost option from the Item Card.
