Hello,
Is there a way to run a posting journal/general ledger report for expense accounts only in Dynamics GP? I have a management reporter/or RSS link to run reports, but the only option there is to run a trial balance and it pulls all accounts as it is impossible to select just the expense accounts. I need a report that would list a date, vendor (or journal entry), description, amount. Or is this something we need to ask our GP IT person to write something like this specifically?
Thanks!
Hi Ceder,
You are correct such an option is not available in Dynamics GP.
However you should be able to write one by linking the account index (ACTINDX) field in the GL20000 (GL Open) data with the GL00100 (Account Index) table.
Once linked to GL00100 the Posting Type (PSTNGTYP) field will designate whether the account is a Balance Sheet (0) or a Profit and Loss (1) account.
Best Regards,
Jeff

Are your expense accounts defined in a logical range? For example my expenses start in the 4000 series and end in the 7000 series.
You can run a SmartList Financial>Account Summary using an expense account range and Year/Period range for a Summary Report.
Also you can run a SmartList>Financial>Account Transactions using expense account range and a date range for a Detail Report.
Let's say your not in a logical range but start with the 4000 series. You can use accounts greater than 3999, export to Excel then filter out accounts that are not expenses.
