Account Structure - Financial dimension

Guys,

I came across the problem below,

I setup no financial dimension validation require to Balance Sheet accounts.

But I setup the Division and Department dimensions as mandatory for P & L account,  which not allow blank value.

I found that the financial dimension for Division and department is blank for realize gain/loss account when i post the AP payment.

Problem: SInce i already set not allow blank for all P & L account, won't the system stop me from posting to realize gain/loss when i post the AP payment?

Anyone encounter this issue before? Any solution to that?

    Thanks for the information.

We will use a workaround method which will impose the validation for BS accounts.

Ensure all the invoices posted with valid financial dimension value.

This will ensure when posted the payment journal and realize again/loss will carry forward the financial value.

    Hi Dexin,

Have you checked LCS for known issues to see if there is a fix for this scenario?

Otherwise, we'd be happy to take a look at this in a support ticket as this might take some detailed testing and review to determine the cause/resolution for why the Gain/Loss posts regardless of the validation setup.

    Guys,

The issue is still not fixed.

    I am using AX2012 R3 version 6.3.6000.151.

I double checked, i set the validation in account structure for realize gain/loss in P & L accounts but i dont set in Balance set account.

When i take in the AP invoice, i will take in without financial dimension posted to BS account

But when i post the AP payment, i have a gain/loss, and it posted to a P & L account. Suppose system should prompt me the validation fail if not financial dimension found, but i can see the  realize gain/loss posted without financial dimension.

    Hi Dexin,

We usually exclude realize Gain/Loss accounts, penny difference accounts, rounding off accounts from account structure.  I will tell you how:

Create a seperate account series for these accounts, let's say 9900 with P & L account type or add accounts in last series.

    For example:

    Control Account: 9900

    Ledger Account 01:    9901 - Realize Gain/Loss

Ledger Account 02:    9902 - Penny Difference accounts

Link this series in balance sheet account structure in order to allow system to post transaction without dimension.

    Hello Dexin,

Did you make some progress here and/or possibly fixed the issue already?

Would be great if you could keep us informed if there is any other help/information from the community needed.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Dexin,

Do you need one value for all exchange gains/losses? In that case, you can setup a fixed or default dimension value on the main account.

Anyway, I would also expect that you will get an error when there is no dimension provided.

    Hello Dexin,

I would expect that you are stopped from posting if not findim is provided.

Can you double check a couple of things:

    1. Are your currency gain/loss accounts setup with a P&L main account type?

    2. Are your account structures that enforce those rules active or have they been changed in the meantime?

    3. What AX2012 version do you operate exactly?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
