Synchronizing roles in Dev environment

Hi. I created some roles in the Dev environment D365 application through System Admin - Security - Security Config. However, these don't appear on visual studio AOT security roles. I have already tried synchronizing the database a few times and it runs fully saying "Database Synchronization Succeeded" but the roles do not appear on the AOT. Are they stored in a different name? From my understanding, custom roles do not have an AOT name.

Appreciate your support. Thanks!

    Hi Vijay,

I think the roles created from the security configuration form won't be showed in the Application explorer (AOT). You can only export and import the roles. Actually, security configuration form will be using temp table and data will be loaded using DLL files.

    Thanks,

    Girish S.

    Hi.

When you are creating security elements (privileges, duties and roles) through the UI, these are stored as configuration/data and not AOT elements.

You can move configuration using the standard import/export functionality, which can be found in the security configuration form you have worked in.

Please note that this functionality exports all configuration changes and not just the single role you are marking.

If you want your security elements to appear in the AOT and move these as code objects, you will need to create them using Visual Studio.

Hi, In addition, you can see only those Security roles in AOT which have AOT name specified in Security configuration form. The roles created from User Interface will not have AOT name.

    Hi Vijay,

You already got the answers in the replies above. Just another note that the Synchronize all button is the same action as publishing the configured roles. You can read more on my blog: Security configuration - What is the 'Synchronize all' button? - Dynamicspedia
