ReportReport
Posted on by

On a test evnironment of business portal I upon clicking on Executive center i get this message 'The permissions granted to user mydomain\TestUser' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)'

I have assinged the user as executive. Where to assign him further security to get Executive center up and running?

    Zaheer,

You must also give the user access to the SRS report.  This will include access to the report and also access to the data in the database.  How are your reports deployed?  Native or SharePoint Integrated?  How you give them access to the report will depend on how your SRS reports are deployed.  For data permissions, we recommend that you assign your user to a rpt_* sql role.

    Thanks

    Rob

I have deployed reports "Native" and there is green tick on SRS delplyed. In SQL security I have also added the user with server role

Since they are deployed in native mode, you'll need to go to Reports Manager > Folder Settings to give your user access.

One other thing to note is your environment.  Depending on how you've deployed BP and SRS, you may need to enable Kerberos authentication.  Could you describe your environment?  Specifically, how many machines and where do SQL, BP, and SRS live?

    Thanks

    Rob

I am in test phase SQL and BP are on the same server. I have GP 2010 and BP 5.1.

In that case, you shouldn't have to worry about kerberos authentication.  Giving your user access to the SRS report and the data in SQL should resolve the issue.

    Hello Zaheer,

To add to what Rob has provided so far, the users also must have the RPT_ database roles assigned to them under the DYNAMICS system database and/or company databases for Dynamics GP as needed.

The RPT_ roles give users access to the data that the SQL SRS reports pull, whether through Dynamics GP, Business Portal or just running the reports through the Report Manager site.

The RPT_AllUser role under DYNAMICS is required for all users, then the other RPT_roles are as needed. There is also a RPT_PowerUser role under the DYNAMICS and company databases if you want users to be able to access all data, similar to the PowerUser security role in the Dynamics GP application.

Other than that, if the users have access to the SRS site and folders/report files as Rob mentioned, they should be fine, since you mentioned you have Business Portal, SQL, SQL Reporting Services all on the same test server.

    Thanks
