Events when user role assignment changes

Hi!

I'm investigating if it's possible to capture an event when a user gets assigned to, or removed from, a role in Finance and Operations. I've been trying to search, but mostly it seems that it's recurring jobs and reports that can be used for this. I'm aware of the "SecurityUserRole" table, but it seems I can't extend it.

Hi @hca

Try the business events for Security user role association:

This is in System Admin -> Setup -> Business Events -> Business events catalog, Data events tab

You can use this event to trigger logic in a logic app or power automate flow.

You can try to set the Data Log: https://daxmsdynamics365.wordpress.com/2023/11/07/data-log/.

Try this one: SecurityUserRole (it looks the table to track assign the roles to the users):

Hi, thanks for taking the time to reply.

@Anthony, unfortunately, Data Events are not available to me in my environment. It might be something that we can use in the future. Thanks for the tip!

@Giorgio, what does it mean to track something? Will I get a notification from the Database Log?

The database log creates a reportable audit log, not notifications.

Ok, is there no other way than the Data Event to get notified when there are security changes?

Yes, I've thought about that. So that is actually a viable option? I think I can create an alert that in turn can create a business event.

It's worth giving it a try.

What is the background of your question? What business problem are you trying to solve here? In case you need a report about security role assignment changes, you can also enable the Estonian localization by setting up a (dummy) Legal entity for Estonia.
