Config Mode in NAV2013R2

Posted on by 126

Hi,

I'm trying to open up NAV2013 R2 in config mode in Windows PowerShell.

I write this

cd "Program Files (x86)" enter

cd "Microsoft Dynamics NAV" enter

cd ""71" enter

cd "RoleTailored Client" enter

to here everything is fine, but how should I now type, I tried below but it dosen't work at all. NAV are not open up

Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client.exe -configure -profile:"Accounting Manager"

I read that you should put OWNER ID on the profile ID but on a NAV2013R2 there is no field called Owner ID.

What am I missing?

Thanks for all your help

Regards

Annika

    Hey Rita,

    First thing First -

Check the Super Role, does it have permission for table and Table data 0 as read/write/delete?

Optionally you can add the Permission for the user in any of the role for table 2000000074.

I think the issue is after upgrade, just let me know if the issue exist.

    RE: Config Mode in NVA2013R2

    Hi Saurav,

since the profile owner is not in 2013 R2, I had set a user to open NAV in config mode but then she rec'd error message - no permissions on TableData Profile Metadata:Insert. I changed her permissions to Super so she could configure the profile. Is there a new role/permission that she should have instead of super or do I need to create one so she can use config mode as needed without having to change permission to super?

    thanks,

    Rita

    RE: Config Mode in NVA2013R2

    Hi Annika Bader,

For NAV 2013 R2 you don't need to add yourself as owner ID.

Just follow the steps in the article saurav-nav.blogspot.com/.../configuring-profile-in-role-tailored.html

You will not get an error message Shown in step 2.

    Just do the Step One.

    Steps -

    1) Open Command Prompt as Administrator.

    2) Navigate to Location where Navision is installed. (Default - C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\71\RoleTailored Client)

    3) Run Following command ---

    Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client.exe -configure -profile:"Accounting Manager"

Where Accounting Manager is the profile that I want to configure.

It will open NAV Client in Config Mode which you can see at right corner.

Let me know if any issues.
