Hi expert,
Where can we specify the mapping between staging field and target field? I looked at the AOT, I could not figure out how the system will know which staging field maps the target field?
Thanks,
Hi Yuji,
the system does the mapping automatically according to the field names. So your staging field should have the same name than the entity field, then the system will map it automatically when you generate mapping in the Data entity form in D365.
If the field names are different (which makes no sense) you have to do the mapping manually in D365 - it can't be done in the AOT.
You can get a better overview of staging field and target fields for data entities (Workspaces > Data management > Data entities) by checking model mapping for each entity.
Hi Nikolaos,
How would the data from the Excel file know where to go in the staging table? I understand the mapping is done from staging table to the data entity which is automatic. But how to map data columns in excel file to the staging? I am new to D365.
Thanks for the help
Hi Alihadi,
When you create an import project in DIXF, as soon as the entity is selected , an option to 'Upload file' is displayed.
If your excel has used the field names as entity fields, the mapping would be done automatically by the system.
If not, an warning message will be displayed when the upload is completed. Click on 'View Map' in the project , where you are map the fields manually to the staging fields.
