How to add custom entity to existing datatype/lookup?

I have created a new entity for Vendor & need to link to a contact with the Account Name map to Vendor. But the current setup of Account Name in Contact field is Customer which is the lookup for Account, as such it only show Account on the look for records.  How do I include Vendor in this look for record field so that I can select Vendor as Account Name? I think I will need a java script to do this, any idea how?

    Thanks Frank,

This won't be practical as I need one field only for Company Name with the ability to search/lookup on both Account & Vendor. ie the contact can be mapped under Account or Vendor.

    Hi,

You only need to create a new column which data type is Lookup and the relate table is Vendor:

Then change the form you use, replace the Company Name in the form with the Company Name you created in the previous step:

You can choose vendors for the Company Name now:

If this helped you, I'd appreciate it if you'd mark this as a Verified Answer, which may in turn help others as well.

    Best Regards,
