
This is more of a general question. We are in the early stages of using Power BI and are looking for any resources on what tables in AX2012 (more specifically what fields within those tables) to use to create various sales reports and dashboards. We are on AX2012 R3.

Look at the "perspectives" node in the AOT, that will show you all the out of the box views that are used to feed the SSAS Cubes, which you can leverage in PowerBI.
For Sales reports, look at the view CustInvoiceTransExpanded, you'll find that has most the raw data elements you want.
If you go look at that in the View node, you'll see its fed by query CustInvoiceTransExpanded which has CustInvoiceTrans joined to several other tables:
