Management Reporter Drill Down

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hello:

I have noticed that, even when using "PERIODIC" for Periods Covered in the Column Definition, Management Reporter will not let you drill down on the "total" for a line item in certain reports.

For instance, if you have a "variable operating costs" line item, you can drill down on that figure.  But, after this drill down, you cannot drill down any further to that line item's total.

Is there a reason why certain reports will let you drill down continuously "into" totals, while other reports will not?

Thank you!

John

Transaction details are typically use with PERIODIC columns, which normally appear in Income Statements. Balance Sheets on the other hand tend to use YTD columns, which typically display ending balances, and not transactions. You could use a PERIODIC column, but may need to change the period range to 1:BASE to show all activity for that year. I must caution you against the performance hit of doing this change, since you will be aggregating transactions to come up with the ending balances, as opposed to looking at a summary value, especially if the company's volume of transactions is large.

    Hi:

The funny thing is that "PERIODIC is already being used for this income statement.  So, I don't know why the drill-down is not working for one income statement but is working for another.

Does your income statement have some YTD column?

    Hi Mariano:

No, all columns are PERIODIC, even though the column headings read "YTD".
