Entity update/save and OData lookup fields

Hi,

We are using OData data provider and have a lookup field on a custom entity.
I have notice that everytime we save the custom entity, the CRM (Online) does a request to the OData Data Provider, and it actually does it a couple of times.
I dont see why it need to do this evertime as the field that contains the OData values has not changed.
Is there something we can do to avoid all these unnessasary OData calls?

Another question,
What is that decides when the OData will be refeshed?
I have one odata data provider that resulted in an error in the CRM when trying to request the OData entities.
And now its like it stopped trying requesting the odata.... all I get is 0x80050263 Error

Is there a way to manually force it to refresh the odata data?
