total discount amount AX 2012 R3

Hello All!
I have noticed that in the sales order header, one can only put a total discount as a percentage, is there a way to put discount t figure instead? if not, why?

Hi, Have you tried recordig it through a Price/Discount journal that default to the sales order rather than directly from the sales order header? Ludwig

Dear Mehammed,

I think this how it has been developed. And may be the idea behind it could be the trade agreement discount. Sales order header discount is an agreed discount with the customer.

if you need it on header level you can customize it. Or use line level amount based discount.

If you want to specify a discount amount at the header level, you can, but you have to use the Total discount group. Which means you need to set an appropriate Price/Discount Journal for that group.

Or, I guess you could use a Charge which is applied to the header.

Hello, I,m trying to use the same Total discount % field at sales order header but when I write de percent and close the order for save the changes it seems like AX works on something. But when I got back to the order and made click on Totals button the total discount % is not being updated. I set up the accounts for automatic transactions at Posting in General ledger setup and I've activated price/discount Total Discount at Sales and Marketing module. Am I missing something else for Total percent % works as expected? Thank You!

Hi Gustavo,

Have you tried setting the Activate price/discount from (Sales and marketing -->Setup -->Prices and discounts --> Activate price/discount).
