General journal to project Transaction ID link - which tables?

Hi, I've extracted all the info from the following two tables into PowerBI, using the URL  xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.operations.dynamics.com/data//data/LedgerJournalHeaders?cross-company=true etc:

  • LedgerJournalHeaders
  • LedgerJournalLines

And have reconciled an example journal back to the D365 journal entries screen ok.

However I can't work out the link to get from the Journal Voucher number to the Transaction ID and Category entry you can see on the Project tab within the General journal entry window in D365.

For example I have a journal where all entries go onto a project, so there is no way to see the GL code it hit, or deduce it from looking at these two tables alone. In this journal the lines are all project expenses , but within the LedgerJournalHeaders and LedgerJournalLines tables there are no obvious flags to say they are project expense and related category / transaction ID or anther obvious way to deduce this.

It feels like I am missing a key table or two here, any help would be much appreciated!

    Hi,

Might be worth taking a look at the following entities:

    /data/ExpenseJournalLines

    /data/LedgerJournalMultiCollection

Since both have LedgerJournalTrans_Project table as datasource, which contains the info that you need.

    Regards,

    Hello JH1,

If you have the voucher then you can search for the related accounting details in the generalledgerentry and generalledgeraccountentry tables. Have you tried checking those tables?

Also, can you let us know for what reason you need that information? The standard D365 module has reconciliation reports between projects and GL to ensure things tie up.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Hi Ludwig, one reason is we want to be able to get a project transaction report out of the system which actually lists every line entry booked against a project, including the sales price, sales currency, cost price, cost currency, category descriptions etc.

The built in reports show a rec to GL etc or other things, but none seem to show a complete detailed export that I've been able to get on other systems. And of course they are only one company at a time.

It is highly frustrating, unless we have missed something obvious!

It seems there is no way to get this data from the any of the data entities accessible though xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.operations.dynamics.com/data//data either.

did you find any way to get these details out? I am also searching for a way to link the detailed level of information with specifically the expenses per project
