Difference between Audience- via self and MasterID in real-time triggers

Hello all,

I have a straight forward question, but did not manage to find any info on this in Microsoft documentation of real time marketing triggers.

While creating Dataverse triggers (not custom) , while choosing Lead Table as the audience , the following required field pops up:

Which is the correct choice here; via Master ID or via Self? and what is the difference between the two?

Similarly for Contact, there are two options.

Anyone already found a good fitting answer to this, please let me know.

    Hi Partner,
    The choice depends on whether you want the triggering record itself to be the audience, or the record it is associated with.
    1.Via self: Literally, the audience is the trigger record itself
    2.Other options:  Display the Lead or Contact records associated with the selected table.
    1)Lead(via attribute Master ID):
    --The Lead table has one relationship with itself through 'Master ID' lookup column.
    2)Contact:
    Contact table has many relationship with itself.

    I hope you can verify my answer if it helps you! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
    Regards,
    Leah

    Hi Leah, can you please give us an example, I still can't get what exactly the difference between them and a use case would be helpful. Thanks a lot!
