Update non-financial related fields in Sales Invoice Header table?

Hello,

I would like to run a few SQL updates to Sales Invoice Header. The fields have no "financial relevance", i.e. they do not affect postings or some such (think e.g. of the "No_ Printed" column). I assume this is safe to do (I know NAV has the Object Tracking table that contains timestamps and doing an update to Sales Invoice Header will update the rows timestamp - but NAV doesn't seem to make any updates to object tracking when e.g. No_ Printed is incremented)?

Thank you all!

    Hi Kalapossu,

If fields have no "financial relevance" and do not affect postings, SQL update is ok.

    Hi,

If you are modifying the data using the tools outside NAV, the object tracking information will not be updated. If you require the tracking, it's better to update using NAV Report (perhaps ProcessingOnly), codeunit or xmlport (as mentioned by Suresh).

    Best Regards,

If you want to do any update and if you are sure it does not affect anything financially, i highly recommend not to use SQL queries but use Navision report/xmlport to update the data.

Regarding object tracking it stores metadata information about the objects, so if you are making changes to the objects then it will update but if you are updating data from SQL it will not affect anyting.
