Project Contract Change Orders

What is the best way to handle project contract change orders? 

Ex: If additional work/tasks are added after the project has started outside of the original contract terms.  Is there any function that represents a change order?

    Hi Nilestone,

    The simplest, out-of-the-box way would be this one: Hack #11: How to use the Project Contract inside Dynamics 365 Project Operations? – Part One | Welcome to D365Hacks 

    Essentially you create a second Contract Line and tie it with the same project, but against new Tasks! Let me know if the blog post helps answer your question, if not I can give you an example.

    In theory the option from Juan does work however it does come with its drawbacks as to maintain this ability out of the box your Project Contract will need to be left in a "Draft" state. This means that the integrity of your project contract baseline is compromised as when you make your next amendment the Project Contract lines will update with the data at that given time.
     
    I have the same challenge and I have tested various approaches but the current design and set up is not aligning to standard business or project practices that you would expect. I have therefore created the following functionality request Microsoft Idea.
     
    I believe this functionality is needed as the alternative would be to close the existing project and create a new Project, Opportunity, Quote and then Project Contract which does not align to standard business or project practices. On smaller projects it may be feasible but as the scale of your projects get larger then the scale of the effort becomes an issue.
