Inventory dimensions required on a purchase order

Hi,

I have product types as item , where the storage dimension requires site and warehouse and location. When entering a purchase order, the system allows me to save the item without entering the warehouse and location. The error message pops up when trying to post the PO receipt.

I want to make the system to NOT allow to save the line item when entering the PO, until the warehouse and location are entered. Avoiding to have error messages  to occur during the PO receipt posting.

Thanks

    Hi Sam,

The mandatory option is what forces user to specify the warehouse. If you notice the help on the "Mandatory" on storage dimensions.. it states that...

Select this option to define the warehouse dimension as a mandatory dimension for item that are associated with dimension group.

    Site dimension is always mandatory.

    Location can't be set mandatory.

What you can do is default the location (if one can be) on warehouse master and it will get copied to all your lines where users can change. If you can't do that, users can leave it blank.

If you clear "blank issues allowed/blank receipts allowed" for location, then it is mandatory prior to posting packing slip / invoice.

    Thanks,

    Satish Panwar

    Hi,

In the storage dimension, I am not allowing the 'Blank receipt'. If 'warehouse specific setup, mandatory = yes' then the warehouse would  become required on the PO line item. However, what about the location, I don't see an option in the storage dimension to make it mandatory.

    Thanks

    Sam

    Hi Sam,

You can have the site, warehouse and location defaulting from the item that you use.

The rest is controlled via the storage dimension groups. If you do not allow blank receipts/issues then you cannot save the order line without providing site, warehouse and location information.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Sam Khawaja!

The system uses purchase order line transactions when posting the invoice. You can fill dimensions on the lines, but transactions may have different dimensions.

You may not be able to change setting on existing data, so try creating additional storage dimension/item.
