Adding a signature to a report

Hello everyone,

We have a custom report which requires an image-based signature to be printed. I have an understanding of how to add the image to the report. Where I need some assistance is where I can properly store the signature image. Much like with the company logo I want to be able to access it for the report.

Hi DHeisman,

Not sure if I got your question correctly. Are you looking for the best place to store the signature image file? If so, then I would probably chose the electronic signature parameter form in the organization administration module (Orga. Admin-Setup-Electronic Signature-Electronic signature Parameters)

If you are looking how the attachment form can designed, then probably have a look at the check setup form in the bank module. If you open the bank accounts there and open the check setup button you should be able to identify how Images are saved there and if you take at the code you should be able to see how and when they are printed on checks. I believe that you can take some code parts / coding ideas from there.

Hi DHeisman,

You can use document handling in AX to attach image to different entities, for example to workers or you can build custom functionality to store your images, as example you can look at company image form or product image in standard AX.

Hi Ludwig,

Your initial impression is correct. I'm looking to find a place to store / access a bitmap signature file I can then retrieve and print on a report. I followed your instructions to Electronic signature parameters but there seemed to be no place where I can store the file. I only see a Notice, Required comments, Signature timeout, and Alert fields. Could you further expand on what fields I should be seeing in the parameter form? Is there a setting I need to enable prior to accessing the parameter form?

Hello DHeisman,

Thanks for your feedback. I thought that you plan to develop something similar to what we can find e.g. in the check form.

If you want to use only standard tools, then the document attachment feature that ievgen mentioned seems the right feature to use. The only question is then what would be the right form that should be used to attach those files. I would probably use the HR workers screen and attach it to the person who's signature is shown on the picture but this is something you will be able to figure out yourself.

Hi Ludwig / ievgen,

Just wanted to close the loop on this. I ended up finding some information on a simple method to attach an image to a form leveraging what CompanyLogo has done. For the rather simple requirement I have it seems to serve the purpose.
