Need help on installing Cumulative Update and Hotfix of AX2012 on new server

Hi experts,

If I move my AX2012 to new server (including Database) will the update (CU and hotfix) included / stored in the database that I backed up ?

Or do I have to install the CU and hotfix in my new server ?

If I have to install it from new, What is the appropriate step?
Should I install the update first, or restore the database first ? And then how to synchronize both ?

I have the same question (0)

The modelstore database contains X++ code and such things, therefore the application will contain updates. But there are also various files installed in Windows, such as ax32serv.exe and DLL files used by AOS, and they aren't stored in database. Therefore you indeed need to install the right version of AOS, of AX client and all such things.

Note that you can incorporate ("slipstream") updates to the installer, instead of having to install them separately.

    Hi Martin,

Can I  do a slipstram install if my hotfix and CU is a file installer like this?

Please follow the link I gave you in my previous reply. It clearly says that it needs to be in "Updates" subfolder of the installer.

    Yes, Martin.

What I mean is, there is stated that application (database) hotfix cannot be included on the slipstream.

I'm just curious what type of hotfix that I have, and does it support slipstreaming.

According the folder name, the first folder contains CU6 for AX 2012 R2, which is supported. By the way, it's a very old update.

I don't know what the other hotfix is. Where did you get it?

    Hi Martin,

The other hotfix is from our old Microsoft Dynamics vendor. And contain file like this :

    pastedimage1654831175329v2.png

And I also have application patch that has App and Kernel folder like this:

    pastedimage1654831260550v3.png

    App folder:

    pastedimage1654831285919v5.png

    Kernel folder:

Can I include those hotfix and patch (app and kernel) in slipstream ?

It looks like an application hotfix to me.
