AX 2012 R 3 Fixed assets and depreciations to various cost centers

Hello

When creating a fixed asset in AX 2012 my client want to distribute the depriciations costs into 4 different cost centers. How do I set this up most easily?

I know that I can set up the depreciation accounts and counter accounts in the posting profiles for the various
value models, but is it possible to set up the split on cost centers there as well or is that done better by setting up allocations rules for the depreciations at month end?

Thank you in advance for your help here

    Hi feodala,

So you do not want to have the depreciation posted against a single cost center but want to have it distributed. Is that right?

What is your criteria for this distribution then?

Do you want to have a single depreciation distributed equally to cost centers 1,2,3 and 4 or do you want to have them distributed differently?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

I  want to depreciate the cost for a building equally on 4 different cost centers.

The depreciation is 2 % a year for the investment of EUR 1 000 000, meaning 20 000 a year and 5 000 a year on each cost center. Ideally this will be done every month.

This is the outcome I would like to get.

    Hi feodala,

There are two options available how this can be achieved:

    1) In your COA you can specify an allocation rule for the depreciation account that is used for depreciating your Buildings. As an example, you can say whenever your depreciation account for your buildings is posted, that AX should split up the amounts equally across your cost Centers. For Details, please see here: stoneridgesoftware.com/allocation-rules-vs-ledger-allocation-rules-in-ax-2012-part-1

    2) After the depreciation has been posted, you can make use of a periodic GL allocation rule. For Details, please see here: stoneridgesoftware.com/allocation-rules-vs-ledger-allocation-rules-in-ax-2012-part-2

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
