Letter Writing Assistant dropping data field in footer

Posted on by 394

So have a weird issue here with Word (2013) and Letter Writer (GP 18.2)

I took a standard vendor letter, credit request, and added a footer with "Secret vendor code" as text and the vendor name as a GP field.

Works fine when I display it on the screen

As soon as I hit print, it drops the field and shows the code instead

Even funnier, when I cancel out of print, the field is just displayed with no data.

Has anyone else come up with a workaround for this?

I opened a case on this, and it was a known quality issue (CR 93485) with no fix planned. So if anyone else is having this issue, the workaround is to just not use the footer (which isn't a fix for our customer as they are using it to scan into a document management system so it needed to stay put)

Anyway, upvote this at idea portal if you have having the same issue!
