Hi,
We are using GP2010 and closing our first financial year 2012 (FY2012).
When we performe YEC to 'Financial Module' , the process is intrupted in between and the error message "Cannot insert value null into column debitamt, table xxx.dbo.GL10110 column does not allow nulls. Insert fails'.
After this we observed the followings:
1.  The GP2010 has created GJ for BBF, but this voucher containes ONLY accounts for whic type is defined 'Balance Sheet'. This voucher is not balance and the difference is exactlly that of accounts for which typre is defined 'Profit and Loss'. It means that Profit and Loss accounts are not closed to Retained Earning account;
2.  The Financial Year 2012 does not appear at Financial>Inquiry>Deatil,
3.  Opening Balances are appeared for Financial Year 2013 for Balance Sheet Items;
4.  Retained Earning Account balances is not updated;
Probable issues may as:
1.  There is some problem whether with 'retained earning' accounts or with account(s) of Profit and Loss due to which these are not being rolledup to retained earning;
2.  Table GL10110 which containes summary of accounts balances, encounter some error and cannot be upated for YEC;
Please provide us solutions so that we can properly close our FY2012 and how to remove the error as stated.

    Hi Farukh.

    Yes - there is something wrong here all right. Did you start on GP2010 or did you upgrade from a previous version? When you set up GP - how did you get the opening data into the system?

    The problem is specific to your system, so the questions above are just early stage digging!!

    Its going to be a hard one to pin down.

    If you have a test enviornment - I would re-run the Year End process with a SQL trace running and see if anything 'jumps out' at you in the SQL Log.

    I would also perform a full check links on the system before running the year end.

    Do you have a Dynamics GP partner that you can contact? Other than that - If you want (and can provide good remote access) I could take a look for you.

    Ian.
