RSAT tool error when connecting to Finance and Operations online - At least one security token in the message could not be validated

Working with a cloud hosted Dyn F&O instance

I followed the config guide Regression suite automation tool installation and configuration - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Docs and got it to work and successfully played back a couple of scripts.

Few days on, I get this error when executing the same script, no changes - 

Status: Test case failed. ERROR: <Message>An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail.</Message> <Message>At least one security token in the message could not be validated.</Message> DEBUG INFO: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> <Error xmlns:xsi="">www.w3.org/.../XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="">www.w3.org/.../XMLSchema"> <ExceptionType>System.ServiceModel.Security.MessageSecurityException</ExceptionType> <Message>An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail.</Message> <StackTrace> Server stack trace: at System.ServiceModel.Channels.SecurityChannelFactory`1.SecurityRequestChannel.ProcessReply(Message reply, SecurityProtocolCorrelationState correlationState, TimeSpan timeout)

There's also this script error that shows up when I try to Run the script. Any pointers on how to resolve this?

    Hi sowmitr,

    It seems to be something related to certificates. Can you double-check it?

    The certificate should be in the local machine's trusted root store, and the pfx file in the local machine's personal store.

    I did check the certs twice and they are exactly as you mention. cer on local's trusted root store and pfx on the local's personal.

    I got the certs using this option but there may've been code deployments since the time I downloaded them. I don't presume the certs have to change with every code deployment do they? pastedimage1653575665095v1.png

    No, they don't. And what about the thumbprint? did you select it in the RSAT?

    I copied the thumbprint from the .cer and put it into the RSAT settings

    if you click on the dropdown list, does the certificate appear in the thumbprint field?

    yes, it does appear in the dropdown list.

    Update  Got it to work but it did need the new cert to be downloaded from LCS and installed on my local for it to work. Not sure if this step is required each time there's a deployment but will be keeping an eye out.

    Great! Sometimes it's easier to repeat everything all over again. But one thing is for sure this error message was certificate-related.
