Smartlist Error Exp1493 Unable to Start Microsoft Excel

We are on GP 8.0 (have been for 10 years or so) and recently upgraded to Office 365.  When I tried exporting to Excel from Smartlist it give the error above.  Nothing has changed with GP or my laptop, but we have the new Excel.  I use this function all the time.  I tried exporting to Word and it appears to work.  any ideas?

Besides the obvious that Great Plains 8.0 was never tested with Office 365, I've seen the following cause this type of error:

    1. Remove the line - SmartlistEnhancedExcelExport=TRUE - from the Dex.ini file if it exists.

    2. If you log on to the server or workstation as a local built-in administrator, then launch and login to Great Plains 8.0, can you then export to Excel?

    3. Make sure there isn't any special characters in the SmartList data that you're attempting to export to Excel, as I've seen that cause issues.

    4. Is it all SmartLists seeing this issue, including default.canned, or just custom SmartLists?

Check these and see if they help you. Maybe others on the communities are running Great Plains 8.0 and may have other information.

    Thanks

Thank you for your assistance.  When I booted up my laptop this morning and tested the Smartlist everything seemed to work fine when I exported to Excel.  Not sure what happened, but that just goes to show you that re-booting should always be one of the first problem solving techniques to try.  I'll keep your information in case I need it in the future.

    Good to hear.

Tuesdays are famous for being big Update days as well, so its possible an update got pushed down, and rebooting the laptop completed that process.

    Thanks again
