Using AIF transformation to convert Excel to XML?

  • I plan to implement this for credit card import (Travel and expense>Periodic>Credit cards>Credit card impot from folder). I have no doubt about the dll part. However, before the the transformation, I found Credit card import will call SysImportProcessor.processInput() to copy the the input file to a temp folder, saved as xml.

  • And then the transformation dll will load the temp file as a input stream to do the conversion. I saw the processInput method seems only support plain text. My input excel file is around 13K, after moved to the temp folder, it became a 6 bytes xml file, seems the copying function before AIF transformation cannot support excel input.

Is anything wrong in my setup? Any advices will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Frankie

Can we find a direct and complete excel converter that allows to convert excel worksheet into XML file directly just like the excel to html converting tool? I know that there are many available excel to other document and image files converting applications.

I have used Altova Mapforce to create a solution where an incomming Excel spreadsheets is converted to XML. I used it with the cataloque import feature in AX, so it didn't work directly with AIF. But you should be able to use it in a transformation in AIF.

This question was here for one year. My solution was use another tool called To-increase to convert the excel to a simple XML, and then use transformation function of AIF to convert it to be required XML format.

It is a bit frustrated the transformation function cannot convert the excel to target XML directly.
