Project Scheduling - Weekly - D365 F&O Project and Accounting Module

Hello,

We typically estimate and schedule our resources on a weekly basis out for a year or more.  We are running into issues where D365 just isnt meeting the needs that aware of

- where in projects module can we do this?

-I know we have the WBS and we can track detail activities but thats not helpful for this process as too granule and not necessarily allows us easily to schedule each week. Tried do a WBS by week by resource where each row is a different week but that is a nightmare and doesnt help with timesheet reporting by activity.

-I know we can do it right on the project on main page, fast tab - Project Team and scheduling but again you cant schedule it on a weekly basis easily

-I know we can use the fulfillment resource form to match resource to project WBS or schedule but again this could take forever to do as our biggest requirement is each week could have a different # of hours. Seems like only functionality that works is taking a bucket of hours and just spreading across weeks by percentages or evenly or using fully capacity but theres no easy grid that would look like below nor can i find a data entity to upload the information.

      - Tried using forecasts but same issues with WBS and that wont show up in resource availability form

Attached is an example. Just want to be able to load in a week by week schedule for each project that can easily dictate the hours each week by resource and then the resource availability form shows that.

Any suggestions?

    Hi,

I currently am working on a similar problem. I don't have a satisfying solution myself.

So far I would say that the Resource availability form isn't the best solution. I'm working with scheduling and the Gantt chart (Organization -> resources -> Gantt). Set up an Hour forecast with a date, the time it takes and then Schedule. Then you can see the blocked resources in the Gantt chart.

Here is a video by Ludwig Reinhard (~41 minutes) with more details:  dynamicsax-fico.com/.../

Personally I would prefer to use the Resource availability form, and it feels like this and the resource scheduling should work together, but I haven't found a connection. I can reserve  resource with the tab in the project, and it won't show in the Gantt chart, and vice versa. If I find something I'll let you know.

Set up the forecast with the resource or resource group you want:

    Use the Scheduling

The time was planed for the next free slot, in this case Feb 20th although the forecast was for August 1st last year.
