Error when attempting to configure e-mail router in QA server

(0) ShareShare

I get the following error when trying to configure email router in my QA server:

"The E-mail router configuration manager was unable to retrieve user and queue information from the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server. This may indicate that the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server is busy. Verify that URL http://<server name:port>/<orgname> is correct. Additionaly, this problem can occur if specified access credentials are insufficient. To try again click Load Data.

What are the things i should check on my server??

    Hi David,

    This error could have multiple causes. On the error after the line "To try again click Load Data" what is the last  statement you see in the bracket?

    Just for your reference, this community blog would be helpful for you to know more about installing and configuring CRM 2011 Email router.

    Thanks Rajesh,

    I'll have a look at your blog.  To answer your Question, the statement in the bracket says the following.  Any ideas what is the source of this?  is it the discovery file?

    I'm looking at the following article for a solution,  Let me know if this is where the problem lies:

    Hi David,

    The cause mentioned in the link is one of the cause if you are also some of the cause if you are using IFD.

    These are some more potential causes of this error.

    1. Verify that the URL's defined in the error message are accessible in IE. The URL 'crmqa.cancercare.on.ca/crm-cancercareontario& should allow you to browse and open the CRM Website without prompting for credentials.

    2. The second URL in the above error message https://<crmorgurl>/XrmServices/2011/Discovery.svc?wsdl should also be accessible without prompting for credentials.

    3. The account that is running the Microsoft CRM E-mail Router service does not have the appropriate permissions to open the URL's specified in the error message.

    Resolution:

    ---------------

    1. If the URL's specified in the error message cannot be opened you will need to update the URL entered within the deployment tab of the CRM E-mail Router Configuration Manager with the correct version. This URL should be what you use to browse and open Microsoft CRM and needs to include the port number if the CRM Website does not run on port 80.

    2. If browsing the URL's from the error message results in prompting of credentials make sure that you have added the URL's to either Local Intranet Sites or Trusted Site within IE Options. This prompting for credentials could also be the result of incorrect Service Principal Names (SPN's)

    3. By default, the CRM e-mail router is installed with the service account set to Local System. You will need to update this service to use an account that is a CRM administartor account. To do this, open the Services mmc and locate the Microsoft CRM E-mail Router service. Right-click on the service and choose Properties. Click the Log On tab and then enter the domain\username and password of an account that is a CRM administrator. Finally restart the Microsoft CRM E-mail Router service as well as the CRM E-mail Router Configuration Manager.

    Regards,

    Thanks Rejesh,  i have closely looked at your 3 above solutions.  they seem to checkout thus far.  However, was wondering if the following page is of concern when i attempted to check the discovery service.  Pls see below.   Is it suppose to generate this output when entering the 2nd url:

    You have created a service.

    To test this service, you will need to create a client and use it to call the service. You can do this using the svcutil.exe tool from the command line with the following syntax:

    svcutil.exe https://crmqa.cancercare.on.ca/XRMServices/2011/Discovery.svc?wsdl

    This will generate a configuration file and a code file that contains the client class. Add the two files to your client application and use the generated client class to call the Service. For example:

    C#

    class Test {
     static void Main()
        {
            DiscoveryServiceClient client = new DiscoveryServiceClient();

     // Use the 'client' variable to call operations on the service.  // Always close the client.         client.Close();
        }
    }

    Visual Basic

    Class Test  Shared Sub Main()
     Dim client As DiscoveryServiceClient = New DiscoveryServiceClient()
     ' Use the 'client' variable to call operations on the service. ' Always close the client. client.Close()
     End Sub End Class

    I attempted to enter the url: https://crmqa.cancercare.on.ca/xrmservices/2011/discovery.svc?wsdl'.

    and i seem to not be able to access this page, as it brings me the following:

    - <Fault xmlns="schemas.microsoft.com/.../none">

    - <Code>

     <Value>Receiver</Value>

    - <Subcode>

     <Value xmlns:a="schemas.microsoft.com/.../Value>

     </Subcode>

     </Code>

    - <Reason>

     <Text xml:lang="en-US">The server was unable to process the request due to an internal error. For more information about the error, either turn on IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults (either from ServiceBehaviorAttribute or from the <serviceDebug> configuration behavior) on the server in order to send the exception information back to the client, or turn on tracing as per the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 SDK documentation and inspect the server trace logs.</Text>

     </Reason>

     </Fault>

    Hi David,

    I would now suggest you to raise a service request with Microsoft Support for a detailed investigation.
