Hi Kylo,
You have to host the image and use the link in your email. Maybe host it in an external site and in an entity store the URL Refer this url in your email template.

I am sending test mails from a gmail account with an image in the body of the mail , which i cannot see in the case of the original mail.

If you use an Image hosted in public server, you will be able to see the image.
