Excel add-in not working?

Hi all,

I'm using the excel add-in at a client and it appears to have some trouble working.  I'm trying to do an upload hitting sales tax tables, but when I add a table to excel, all of my upload options are grayed out:

As you can see, the "field lookup," "publish data," and "retrieve status" options are all grayed out.  They just installed a new AX DB on their instance of SQL, and that new DB is what I'm trying to hit -- could it be having trouble recognizing that new DB? Any ideas as to the cause and how to resolve?

Thanks in advance!

I had that same problem and it took me a while to realize that you need to close the Field Chooser in order to publish or upload...

Thanks, Adele -- that helped.  But I still have an issue where my upload is hitting the wrong database. The upload is hitting the DB on port 2712, when I'm looking to upload to 2714.  Any idea on how to set this?  The WSDL port (8101) is the same for both, so I can't configure that from within Excel.

    Thanks!

I don't know how to do that. We always have a separate WSDL port for out different databases. However, I know that when you first open excel it uses the default configuration setup for your client so if you go into the AX configuration manager and change your default configuration to the DB you want to hit, it might use that one automatically.

    Hi Evan,

Have you tried "connection" option in Excel? If you go to Connection-> Advance, you will see option to change server and port.

I hope, this is what you are looking for.

    Thanks,

    Ekta

    Re: Excel add-in not working?

    Hi Ekta,

Is there any option there to hit a different TCP/IP port?  I only see the WSDL port, and that's the same across all three databases (the default, 8101).  If I change that line to the TCP/IP port of 2714, the connection is lost

    Thanks!

    Evan,

Yes, you are right. I tried to change that to some other port and I lost my connection too.

Sorry, I have no idea how to fix this through excel. I think, there is just one option left which Adele suggested.

    Thanks,

    Ekta

    Re: Excel add-in not working?

    hello everyone,

I closed the field chooser and tried to publish data, but still it is disabled.

they get enabled only at time when I select Add Table option  and not at the time when I select Add data option.

But as I understand we should select add data option for importing the data.

Plz help me if any of you got my issue.

    Thank you all.

    Re: Excel add-in not working?

    Hello Arpit,

When you use Add data option instead of Add table, it is asking for data sources that you would like to use.

Before using this data sources here, you will have to deploy some AIF web services in AOT.

For example, if you are trying to load GL transactions , you will have to deploy LedgerGeneralJournalService on AOT.

Then, next step would be to go to Administration -> Setup -> AIF-> Inbound Port. Here you will have to activate Ledger Service.

If you follow all these steps and if your Web service has been deployed properly, you will see “Publish data” option enabled.

We loaded some GL transactions successfully in our system for training purpose with help of Add Data option.

Please refer below links. He described this process very well here.

I hope this will help you.

    Thanks,
