Working with truck capacities in Field Service

Hi,

I am currently exploring concepts fpor the following requirement.

- Field Service agent visits customer sites everyday

- At each customer site, the agent is (currently manually) scheduled to unload and load items from/to his truck

- Each customer asset of a work order holds dimensions of the item, that shall be unloaded/loaded

- Dyn365 Field Service shall schedule a daily route and shall also consider truck capacity constraints

Which concept would you leverage for this?

Thank you.

RE: Working with truck capacities in Field Service

Warehouses, Products, Warehouse Products:  Those will hold the items, weights, and trucks are just mini-warehouses.  Warehouse Products ties an individual item to an individual warehouse.  After delivery, you can make them convert to a Customer Asset on your customer account.

Work Order, RSO, Booking: Work Order is where you define the work to be done.  In this case, transport and delivery.  You can also build templates of standard work, so you don't have to do repeated data entry all the time.  The Default Incident will be your template on a Work Order.  The RSO is the scheduling engine.  You tell it what kind of resources (drivers) are needed, and it will take all unscheduled work orders and route them out based on available driving resources.  It will also schedule out estimated travel time between deliveries, and time on delivery based on the Incident Type you set up.  It will then create a Booking that ties everything together and puts it on your service calendar.  It also then pushes out to the field service mobile app so your drivers know their schedule for the day.  You can also ask the RSO to do one-offs if you're on the schedule calendar by clicking "book" on the unscheduled work item.  This is great in sitautions when you're on the phone with a customer and need to give them a delivery time.

On top of this, eBECS (the company I work for), has an add-on for Field Service that does things like daily scheduled tasks (such as "load the truck"), and on-the-fly vehicle weight tracking (which is great when you are also doing pick-ups).
