Background Instances in Active Session Table (NAV 2016)

Hi all,

One of my client has asked the below question. I have seen the background instances created before but this is a customer with more than 50 users and they get the background instances of more than 30 in the Active Session table. I am unable to find out why the system is creating so many instances (I am sure this doesn't affect the user login sessions on their licence).

Why Dynamics NAV (2016) create so many Server Instances named “nas”, where Client type is “Background”? Please see the attached snapshot below.ActiveSessions.JPG

It's probably the Job Queue, see also: www.navug.com/.../viewthread;MessageKey=2c1efe9e-d47e-48d0-83f5-b1a389513700&CommunityKey=95503735-5a0b-4af1-8326-9bd7bb3b4d3d&tab=digestviewer

It are the hits which are created when some one tries to use the services via web or any web services being consumed.

    Hi All,

Thanks for all your suggestions. I have restarted the services, but it comes back after the restart. Can kill the sessions, but it will come back after restart. They have around 5 jobs running from NAS. I am actually trying to understand what the Background services mean or what makes it created in NAV instances. They have so many users using Zetadocs Expenses/approvals from tablets, phones etc.

    Regards,

    Cecil

Disable your web services and check.

    Cecil Mathew ,

you can kill all duplicate current sessions , restart the services

and check task scheduler or your server

also make sure you have setup or test unwanted jobs on your job queue
