Did you follow the AX Code Upgrade guide? If not, maybe that is your issue, since it is not just an install-and-forget task, but requires planning ahead and going through a complex process:

    technet.microsoft.com/.../jj733502.aspx

Make sure you did not miss any steps explained there during the in-place upgrade.

My guess is that you have missed the step to remove customization in core classes before running the installer, and that might be causing a crash.

Also it is possible that during the setup you have provided incorrect settings for connectivity to the database, check your AX Server Configuration.

    Thank you Vilmos,

But i followed the below steps only

Step 1: Imported the Customer DB from AX 2012 R2 CU7

Step 2: Updated the UserInfo Table with the contoso/Administrator user.

Step 3: Delete the SYSServerSessions,SYSClientSessions records from the database backend.

Step 4: Check the Model List

Step 5: I exported the ModelStore and saved in a file location, “only for backup purposes”

Step 6: I uninstall all the component of AX 2012 R2 expect the AOS in the control panel. I also stop the AOS server.

    Step 7: uninstall the components

Step 8: Installing the AX 2012 R3 Support file and configuring the DB

    DB

    Configure the Database

Since we have only Foundation and Foundation label in your environment, I also selected only the two model file in this environment

When I try to move next, it is asking to uninstall as below. I didn’t uninstall I just continue the setup

And installed the DB in the environment.

Additionally I installed the two components for checking the modification in the environment.

And I can see a successful output in the environment as below.

Now I am uninstalling the AOS Server (AX 2012 R2 CU7)

Installing the AX 2012 R3 AOS Component:

Step 1 : Now I started the setup for AX 2012 R3 RTM and selected only the AOS Server

I choose the default on this option and continue the setup

Now I installed the client and debugger to see the check list is updated or not.

    I run the AXBuild XPPCompileAll

Step : I installed the AX 2012 R3 Client and all other needed components.

I started the client and could see “The Model store has been modified” Window.

We tried completing the code upgrade checklist.

Now you have to follow the upgrade steps according to the standard.

I have found that the other typical issue is that a couple of stored procedures are not getting created in the AX Data and Model databases which could cause issues with an upgrade.

Take a look at a Demo VM provided by Microsoft for R3, and see if you are missing any Stored Procedures in the Programmability node within the SQL database. Also the content of the stored procedures could be wrong, where the old version is kept somehow. Best is to compare those between a demo and your actual environment. We had a difference in the getNumInternals stored procedure when we have upgraded from RTM to R3.
