Trial Connect to on Premises Data Gateway

I am keen to try out the capabilities of Customer Insights but I seem to be unable to connect to my On Prem Data Gateway. Nothing comes up in the drop down.

Is this just because its a trial or is connection to on premises data gateway not available yet?

We use it for all our other Power platform apps like BI and Apps.

Will it not work with Customer insights?

    Andy,

    This is functionality that is scheduled for a future release, it is confusing because it can be selected in the connector but nothing happens.

    Here is a more complete explanation from one of the Microsoft Customer Insights developers.

    Hi Andy,

    We are currently working to enable on-prem connectivity in Customer Insights and plan to enable preview of this feature in June 2020. Please let us know if you are interested and we will add you to the preview.

    In the meantime, you can export your on-prem data to Azure SQL, Azure blobs, or CSV files etc. and ingest from there into CI.

    Hi Scott, I will appreciate it if you could add us to the On-Premise Gateway Preview as we are actively positioning Customer Insights as a solution to our customers.  We have a particular customer who makes use of On-Prem Data

    Hi Andy, Scott, Johan,

    Want to provide an update that the preview timeline for the on-prem connectivity is now moved from June 2020 to late July / early Aug, for the work involved in enabling this functionality in CI.

    Please continue to leverage the alternatives to get on-prem data into CI, i.e., export your on-prem data to Azure SQL, Azure blobs, or CSV files etc. and ingest from there into CI.

    We will provide an update once the preview is available.

    On-prem connectivity is now available in a preview mode in Customer Insights. Please reach out to CIHelp@microsoft.com so we can assist you bring in your on-prem data into Customer Insights and generate rich unique customer profiles from all your data sources.
