Confirming Po error message

A user receives an error message when trying to confirm a PO but the status of the PO is already in Approved.

Error Message: The document can be confirmed only if the approval status is in external review or approved.

                         An error occurred during update.

How can this be resolved or what access do they need?

    You shouldn't ask what access you need to approve something, if it's already in the approved state. You also don't have to fix anything (I guess), if you're just trying to get it into state where it already is. You're done here.

    If you say that it shouldn't be in the approved state, you may want to analyze how it happened. But that's a completely different topic.

    I too am having the same issue, while trying to confirm a PO. There is no workflow for the Purchase orders, hence when a PO is saved the status is auto updated as "Approved".

    The issue comes when the user is trying to confirm a PO. The PO is not getting confirmed and the following error is thrown:

    "The document can be confirmed only if the approval status is in external review or approved"

    Hi Martin, This is a typical issue arising when user is trying to confirm the PO.

    By default (if there is no workflow), a saved PO status is Approved. Hence, I wonder why the error is coming.

    Please share some screen shots for this record. Which should show PO workflow status and please confirm if change order management button is active or not?

    We have the exact same problem. The error message makes no sense. We are in approval status, without using workflow. we already have confirmed it before, we have made a PO change, the status swaps back to approved. and we are re-confirming. Nothing  unusual. ANd then this error. But the system DOES create a new journal in the background. the next dash number. But if you intend to EMAIL this PO, you are stuck through this error.

    we all wonder why that error is there. It is a pain. No workflow. Status of PO is approved. We have confirmed it once. Status confirmed. Then we make a PO change. Add another line item. Nothing special. Now we want to re-confirm and we get this error. We do not use Supplier approval feature of AX7.

    misunderstanding. We are not using workflow. We have our PO already mailed to the vendor, so it is in status confirmed. Then we make a change, add a line. Then the status flips back to approved. We have to confirm again. That is when this error happens. Not always. We had 100's of PO's without a problem and suddenly after 4 months, we have the problem again.

    THe error does not prevent  the creation of a new confirmation journal -2. But the user does not get to the email screen so the error is disruptive.

    Hi there.  I was wondering if there is a resolution for this issue?  I have several PO's that have received this error during PO confirmation today.  We haven't had seen this error before today.
