When setting security access level 'create', user can delete

Hi all,

I got a problem while setting security access level for a role.

I have created a privilege with entry point having access level 'Create'.

However, when i apply this privilege to a role, when testing, user can both new and delete in the movement journal. I have also tested when removing the privilege, user cannot new and delete.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Best Regards,

Jim

    Hi Jim,

Have you solved your issue already or not? If not, you can use the security development tool to verify the total access permissions based on one role or multiple roles (if you create one role including all sub roles).

You can also check the permissions on the form if the access level is overwritten.

    Hi ,

Thanks so much for your suggestion. I have tested by creating a 'test' role with ONLY ONE privilege - 'create' access to movement journal. The result is positive, i can access to the menu item and create new journal and 'delete' button is grey.

When i get back to test with the original role. When i remove the privilege, I cannot access to the menu item, which is correct. However, when i add the 'create' privilege, i am able to both 'new' and 'delete' journal.

This result is confusing, is there any function for security i have been missing? e.g. is there any function like when user have access right to the menu item, system automatically grant 'delete' access level to them? Thanks in advance again!

    Best Regards,

    Hi Jim,

Crispin might be correct with the table permissions. Note that this can be caused by having multiple duties/privileges which do have access to inventory journals. E.g. A profit/loss journal is using the same tables. If the user has maintain rights for another inventory journal, the effective table permissions will be delete, enabling the delete button also on the movement journal.

    Hi André & Crispin,

Thanks again for your reply. However, Just now I have checked that the permission and all the sub-role permission do not include InventJournalTrans & InventJournalTable. Do you guys have more idea? Thanks a lot again.!!

    Best Regards,

    Hi Jim,

In a previous blog, I explained how to check and set table permissions. You can use this as reference for your role to find the "delete" access on the table.

If there is a delete access, it should be caused by access on other forms. I have seen another similar scenario in the past where the table was used as datasource on a complete other form causing a similar issue.
