"Assemble to Stock" -- Transferring Variant Codes and Comments

(1) ShareShare

Hi:

Some of our items are configured as Assemblies having the "Assemble to Stock" Assembly Policy and having Variant Codes and Comments.

When placing these items on Sales Orders and subsequently creating Assembly Orders from these Sales Orders, the Variant Codes and Comments are not transferring to the Assembly Orders.

Why, and is there a workaround?

Thanks!

John

Do you have SKUs per Variant?  If not, create them and see if it resolves your issue.  Not a workaround, just proper setup.

@Ben Baxter: We don't have SKUs by Variant -- only by Location.

So, just now, I created SKUs by Variant in a test company.

But, doing so did not resolve the issue.  The Variant Code still did not transfer to the Assembly Order.

If these values are required on the assembly order, this may need a customization to copy them from the sales line.

I just tested this without issue or customization.

Item + Variants, added a SKU for the Location + Variant, set an Assembly BOM on the Item, added a Sales Order for demand, then tested both Assemble-to-Stock and Assemble-to-Order and both generated an Assembly Order with the Variant Code from the Sales Line.  If your process is not creating the AO with Variant Code, you either have a modification or you're missing data/process steps.
