Roles Or previliges we use for mobile timesheet app

Posted on by 58
Hello Team,

I am facing one issue, when we are assigning system admin role to a user then he is able to access the mobile timesheet app in D365 F&O but when removing it then he is not able to access mobile timesheet app, Can anyone please let me know what security role or previliges we are using to get access of mobile timesheet app in D365 F&O? I have already tried with the role - /Project Timesheet User/ but it didnt worked.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi Piyush,

For D365 F&O mobile timesheet app access you need to provide following role and privileges.
    Role:
    Project timesheet user

    Duties:
    Maintain mobile timesheets
    Privileges:
    Maintain mobile timesheets

Based on this privilege, you can decide what access levels need to be granted to the user.
Settings for mobile time entry (TSMobileSettings)
    Timesheet Entries (TSMobileList)
    New Timesheet Entry (TSMobileNew)

Hope this helps. Happy to answer questions, if any.

Roles Or previliges we use for mobile timesheet app
In my experience, I've encountered a similar issue with accessing certain features within the World Chef APK. Specifically, when assigning the system admin role to a user, they gain access to the mobile timesheet app in D365 F&O. However, upon removing this role, access to the mobile timesheet app is also lost.
To troubleshoot, I've attempted to assign the /Project Timesheet User/ role, hoping it would grant the necessary access. Unfortunately, this approach didn't yield the desired results. It seems there might be specific security roles or permissions required within the World Chef APK to access the mobile timesheet app that aren't covered by the /Project Timesheet User/ role.
To address this issue effectively, it's crucial to explore and identify any additional security roles or permissions necessary for accessing the mobile timesheet app within the World Chef APK. By delving deeper into the permissions and roles, we can ensure seamless access to the mobile timesheet app for all users, regardless of their assigned roles within D365 F&O.

"Setting up roles and privileges in our mobile timesheet app ensures efficient management and accountability. By assigning specific roles such as employee, manager, and administrator, along with corresponding privileges such as clocking in/out, approving timesheets, and accessing reports, we streamline workflows and maintain data integrity. This robust system enhances user experience, security, and overall productivity, making our timesheet app a valuable asset for businesses of all sizes."

In Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (D365 F&O), the ability to access the mobile timesheet app is typically governed by a combination of security roles and privileges. If assigning the system admin role grants access, but removing it causes issues, it suggests that the user might be lacking specific privileges or roles required for mobile timesheet access.
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and address the issue:
    Check Default Security Roles:
Ensure that the user has the necessary default security roles for accessing timesheet functionality. While the "Project Timesheet User" role is a good start, there might be additional roles or privileges needed for mobile access.
    Review Mobile Workspace Configuration:
The mobile timesheet app might have a dedicated workspace or area within Dynamics 365 F&O. Check if there's a specific workspace or module related to timesheets on the mobile app, and ensure that the user has access to it.
    Custom Roles and Duties:
If your organization has customized security roles or duties, make sure that they include the necessary privileges for timesheet access. Custom roles might have been created to align with your specific business processes.
    Review Licensing:
Ensure that the user has the appropriate licensing for accessing timesheet functionality. Some features might be tied to specific licenses, and lack of proper licensing can restrict access.
    Check for Customization:
If your organization has customized the timesheet functionality or app, make sure that the customizations are compatible with the user's security configuration. Customizations might introduce additional security requirements.
    Use Security Diagnostics:
In Dynamics 365 F&O, there are security diagnostics tools that can help identify missing privileges. You can enable security diagnostics logging and review the logs to identify any denied privileges when the user tries to access the mobile timesheet app.
    Consult Documentation and Support:
Refer to the official Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O documentation for guidance on configuring security for timesheet functionality. Additionally, if the issue persists, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for assistance.
    Trial and Error:
You might need to use a trial-and-error approach, gradually adding roles and privileges to the user's configuration to identify which one is essential for mobile timesheet access.
By thoroughly reviewing and adjusting the user's security roles and privileges based on the above considerations, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with mobile timesheet app access in Dynamics 365 F&O.

    Hi,
I'm not too clear about the security role of the timetable application. I also tried to search for some information for you, but the relevant documentation has very little information about this. You might want to wait and see if other experts have some ideas.
    Best Regards,
    Hana

    Hi Hana,

Thanks for your response, but if that might be the case then user should also face the issue when they are provided with systemadmin role but with that role they are able to access the mobile timesheet but if we remove that role then the user start facing the session timeout issue, so my main aim here is that i want to know what security role, duties or previliges we are using for mobile timesheet app so that we can use those roles, duties or previliges because we cant provide system admin role to every user. I hope i am clear in what i want.

    Thanks

    Hi,
The document states that during login to the Project Timesheet mobile app, users receive an error message stating that they "cannot access application '2bc50526-cdc3-4e36-a970-c284c34cbd6e' in this tenant." and mentioned that these issues were caused by changes made to Microsoft Entra ID, which were related to external users. All external users need to be invited to the tenant via Microsoft Entra ID. For more information you can check this link:
