AX2012 R3 CU13 and SQL2012 Service Pack 4

We recently updated our AX2012R3 kernel to 6.3.6000.9946, which is essentially CU13 with the latest hotfix. What is the latest SQL 2012 service pack supported when running this kernel version? In the Dynamics AX2012R3 install guide it documents only SP3 as a supported release, but SQL2012 latest Service Pack is 4 and SQL Server Extended Support requires release level SP4.

If there is no evidence of Microsoft supporting SQL2012 SP4 on AX2012R3 CU13, then can anyone tell me if they have this configuration running in their PROD environment and whether they have had any issue with it?

The System Requirements Document was last updated Sept. 2017 and does not reference a service pack for SQL2012 later than SP3.

But you can see in the front page that future SPs of supported software versions will be supported.

Follow-up Question...When reviewing the AX2012 System requirements document, when Microsoft refers to CUs in the software requirements for database servers section, it is referring to Kernel releases, not Application releases, correct? In other words, Support for SQL2012 Service Pack 3 requires Cumulative Update 10 for AX 2012 R3. they are referring to the Kernel release of CU10, not the Application release level.

Please confirm that for me.

Hi,

most likely only the kernel version matters since the kernel is handling the communications with the database. But if you want an official answer, perhaps it's best to ask from Microsoft support. The documentation doesn't mention that only the kernel version would be meaningful.
