a get/change first operation on table 'paCustomers' failed accessing sql data

Posted on by 5

Hi All,

A few months back my company completed an Archive Process using Profad CDA utility and all went successful, or so it appeared. A few days ago we tried pulling up some old data from 2013 using SmartList > Sales Transaction and I can see all of the transactions, but when I open them to view the line items in each order, they're missing. Only the header information appears.

When I try to access the CDA module, I'm now getting these two errors:

1)a get/change first operation on table 'paCustomers' failed accessing sql data

2)a get/change first operation on table 'paArchiveSettings' failed accessing sql data

This never happened before when I would access the application. Any thoughts?

    UPDATE****

I finally got through to Profad regarding this issue, so I wanted to send a little update:

1). Regarding the errors I got when trying to run the CDA Utility, these were corrected by simply reinstalling the CDA application. They said the errors stemmed from a bad/corrupt chunk file. The link below points to the documentation regarding the install

    www.profad.com/.../

2). As for the missing line item detail in the Archive Company, that's still unclear so far, but luckily I was able to dig up a backup database from a few months ago from our Datto.

They advised me to create a test company in GP and restore that backup to that test and verify the data is in fact there, which it is. The next step they said to initiate a new archive of 1 year that I seem to be having the issue with. If it transfers over then all is well and chalk it up to some weirdness. If it does not archive, then they have a script to essentially transfer the data manually through SQL (of course billable consulting hours) and they will escalate the issue up to the next level/team for further research.

I will be starting the archive process tonight of a full year and verify in the morning, but I'm really not too hopeful, since it didn't work the first time. For those of you who have used CDA before, it's not too complex to kick off. Simply Check "Transfer" set the year and fire it off. The odd thing is that I did it the exact same way each time, beginning with 2006, but a block from 2013-2017 were bad, the other years worked fine.

Sorry so long winded, but I will update this in the morning, once the archive process completes over night.

There is no PACustomer table in GP project accounting. I think the PA stands for Professional Advantage(PA). Please let us know what they say. You could also try running the GRANT.SQL script to see if that helps. I know you said you are running this as 'sa' but who know what is in the script that is running.

The weird part is that 'paCustomer" refers to Project Accounting, which is something we do not use and never have before. Also, I am logged in under 'sa' and also my own account which are both part of DYNGRP.

I have an open support ticket with Profad, so once I hear back from them, I'll update post if any conclusion.

    Thanks for the ideas!

As Almas mentioned, it seems as secuity issue.

Make sure the user is mapped and run the below statments in system and company database(s)

    EXEC sp_addrolemember 'DYNGRP','<username>'

Try to check the security on this table, may be the login user have no rights to access this table and unable to find it. make sure your user is assigned with DYNGRP role and have read permission on these tables.
