Hi
How to disable the filter button under data connector excel addin?
or this?
So that the user cannot edit the filter after export.
Hello Pradeep Magadum,
Is there any specific reason to hide this?
Are all users have access to generate open in excel feature in D365 for which you want to restrict this option there?
Are you looking for restricting this option only for some specific users and want to keep this available only with Admin user?
Best regards,Sourav Dam
Hi Pradeep,
I don’t think it is useful.
Users can still filter data through excel's standard function.
What's your requirement?
I don't see why this would be useful. As mentioned above, the users can anyway filter data in Excel using normal filters. What business value would it bring to not allow them to filter in the data connector?
I agree that users can filter the data in excel using normal filters. That is fine because users will only filter the data that is refreshed. If I allow the user to filter in data connector, he will bring back different data all together. I don't want that.
Why don't you want that? They can also filter data on a form and export it to Excel. Basically you can control what the users are allowed to see, but you can't prevent them from looking at a subset of what they are allowed to see (by filtering).
And it does not make any sense anyway! At most you could reduce their productivity.
There is no filter option on the form.. Some static data displayed in FormTableControl. User clicks a button and export the data entity with predefined filters (say it as projectid). After the export i don't want the user to change the project id and get the data for different project where he is not part of.
Hi Sourav
im looking for restricting this option for some specific users.
Then you should use eXtensible Data Security to prevent users from accessing data from other projects. Removing some filter in Excel is not a secure solution, anyway.
But the Data entities do not support the Extensible Data Security (XDS) concepts.
Data entities only show data that the user has access to. So if you apply XDS to the underlying table, the entity will return only the data that the user has access to.
