Integration of Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O with Sharepoint

(1) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 212
Hi,

I want to integrate Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O with Sharepoint. The requirement is that whenever I run a report from dynamics 365 F&O, after the report is generated in dynamics, it should automatically save/flow,  as an excel file ,to a folder in sharepoint. In this way, I don't have to manually upload the report to sharepoint after it's run in dynamics.

Please help on how to achieve this automation with ease.

you can explore and leverage ER features in D365 to achive this solution.

Are you aware of the print archive? If not, check out Steps to Set Up SharePoint for Document Management in Dynamics 365 Finance, for instance.

Also, are you 100% sure that you want to export data from reports to Excel? It means you'll unable to see the original design of the report and print it again if needed, because most format information gets lost when extracting data from an SSRS report to Excel.

    Hi Martin,

    Thanks for your input.

I explored the link shared by you on the print archive. There, upon clicking the print management link, I cannot see the menu item for my custom SSRS report, that is present in Project Management and Accounting module. I think this option is available only for few forms whose setup is already there in dynamics.

I want to know if this feature is applicable for custom SSRS report. I explored for it but couldn't find any relevant information there.

My requirement is that when I run a custom SSRS report in F&O, as soon as the report gets generated in dynamics, it should be moved to sharepoint location.

Regarding the excel format, my report contains a simple table with rows and columns and no other specific design. Hence it it expected to be exported in excel format only.

Is there any other way to achieve this requirement of sharing report to sharepoint directly?
Please provide your valuable suggestions on the same.

    These are several different questions.

First of all, consider if print management meets your requirements. If not, then you'll need to design a custom solution for SharePoint integration, but if it does developing (designing, testing, maintaining...) a custom solution for the same purpose would be a waste of resources.

If print management is usable, then we can start discussing how to use in your particular scenario.

    Hi Martin,

Print management seems good but how can we use it in case of ssrs reports. There is no option to select the report, we can select only a handful of forms. I want this feature for my report which I didn't find. Hence, I am not sure if this feature is helpful in my case.

I think you're talking print management. Only some reports supports print management (where you can select from several designs, set number of copies etc.), but print management should be available as a print destination of all reports, if I remember it correctly.

    Hi Martin,

How to check if my custom SSRS report supports print management or not?
Yes, I can save my report in print archive if I select "File" under print destination settings while I run the report.

    Thanks!

If you created a new report and didn't implement support for print management, it does not support print management. But you don't need that; I my suggestion was utilizing print archive, not print management.

    Hi Martin,

Could you please elaborate further on how print archive could help us in automating the report from D365 F&O to sharepoint?

    Thanks !

You want to store a report (printed to a file) in SharePoint. Print archive allows storing a printed report in SharePoint. Don't you see any similarities between your requirement and the capabilities of print archive?
