Manufacturing - subcontrator to invoice to update COGS when FG already sold

Hi All

I have a question about manufacturing costing. Suppose we have closed to production order after recording FG output and then we receive a subcontractor invoice for one of the WC. Does the system update historic COGS and does it adjust the cost of the exact FG item ledger entry for the sale?

    Hi,

    Short answer is, unless you "Finish" the Production Order, any additional costs are collected in WIP and then when you do Finish it redistributes costs and updates the COGS accounts etc.

    I don't recall what period it makes these adjustments in - probably the links other people have posted will explain that process as to which accounting period is impacted.
