Hello,

I want to switch a field from an option set, to something (not sure what) where I can select multiple options. Maybe like a check box... Anyways, data type and field type are greyed out. See photo below

Entities > Accounts > Fields > custom field

thanks,

Andrew

Once you create custom field you cant change field type. If you did it by mistake you have to delete and recreate new field with right data type. If your requirement is just add few more options in the option set that you can do by clicking on the "+" button under the Options section . Once you clik the green "+" button sytem will populate text and value with default value where you can edit those values.

I tried to delete it and then it said "Cannot delete Field because one or more components require it."

Before deleting the field you need to remove this field from all the forms and views and workflows.

Easy way to find dependency for field is by show Dependencies.

You can view dependencies for attribute either from fields grid or from field it self.

Once you click on Show dependencies, CRM will show where this attribute is used.. and you can open that component from Show dependencies grid. and remove your attribute from those components.

When attribute is removed from all components, don't forgot to publish your changes.. then delete your attribute.

    Hope this will help..
