Hi guys,

Hi  ,

I was wondering on How the licence level is defined in D365 ?

Is there a way to find the standard MS code behind this licence level attribution ?

If someone could help me to understand it.

Thanksfully.

PS: There is no link with my previous thread, it's really for my own knowledge and understanding for D365

RE: How the licence level is defined in D365 ?

It's explained in the blog posts/YouTube videos I listed.

For entry point based licensing, Microsoft looks at the access to menu items that a user has, each menu item has two parameters assigned a ViewUserLicense and MaintainUserLicense. If the user has read access to a menu item, the ViewUserLicense is applied, if the user has Create, Update, or Delete permission to the menu item the MaintainUserLicense is applied. Microsoft then looks at all menu items assigned and looks for the highest license level, and that is the license required for the user.

For privilege based licensing, Microsoft then breaks out the Operations level licenses into Finance, SCM, Retail, EAM etc based on the privileges assigned to the user. Microsoft designates certain privileges to require certain licenses and resources I listed show this process as well.

    Hi Mack.

Have you read Alex' blog on this subject - this should answer all your questions?

    alexdmeyer.com/.../

In short there are currently two different license types in D365FO.

    Menu item/Entry point license level:

Defined on the menu item, there are two license level attributes per menu item/entry point, one for read and one for maintain access. You can find this for all menu items/entry points in D365FO.

    Privilege license level:

The license level for each privilege is stored in a table .

For further details, please read through the blogpost and let us know if you have specific questions.
